In order to compete with large stores, these small stores have to come up with some action. By keeping their margins low will they be able to stay in the competition. When the provide discounts for 10% or 15% discount on product their entire profit margin will be wiped out. They can provide discounts only for people purchasing goods in bulk. If these small stores offer discount coupons for every purchase then they would be in the verge of closing down.
However by inviting sufficient traffic to their websites, they will have advertisers to pay them to advertise on their sites. Even if companies do not sell products, they will get hundred dollars as their income for a day.
Small companies cannot afford to give online coupons for everyone. In order to stay in the game, they will have to find other means and ways.
